Introduction

qNavigator Pro v7.0 is an Expert Advisor (EA) designed for the MetaTrader 5 platform, enabling automated trading with multiple flexible strategies. This EA supports features such as time-based trading, Martingale/Snowball money management, trailing stop, and risk control through Balance TP and MDD levels.

This article will provide a detailed guide on how to install and configure each parameter of the EA.

Installation

Step 1: Download the EA file

Download the qNavigator.mq5 file to your computer.

Step 2: Copy to Experts folder

Open MetaTrader 5, go to menu File → Open Data Folder. Navigate to the MQL5/Experts folder and paste the EA file there.

Step 3: Compile the EA

Open MetaEditor (press F4 in MT5), find the qNavigator.mq5 file in the Navigator and click Compile (F7).

Step 4: Attach EA to chart

Return to MT5, in the Navigator window, drag and drop the qNavigator EA onto the chart you want to trade. Make sure Auto Trading is enabled on the toolbar.

Parameter Configuration

1. System Settings

Parameter Default Value Description
Name qNavigator Pro v7.0 EA identifier name
Magic Number 88888888 Magic number to distinguish orders from this EA with other EAs. Each EA should have a unique magic number.
Spread Limit 30 Maximum spread allowed (in points). EA will not open orders if spread exceeds this value.
Slippage Limit 30 Maximum acceptable slippage when opening orders.

2. Signal Settings

Parameter Default Value Description
Signal Follow Trading signal type (see details below)
Open Index 1 Trading start hour (0-23)
Close Index 23 Trading close hour (0-23)
Time Condition Range Equal: Only open orders at exact Open Index hour
Range: Open orders from Open Index to Close Index
Close Option Don't close Option for closing orders when reaching Close Index hour

Signal Types:

  • Buy only: Only open buy orders
  • Sell only: Only open sell orders
  • Random: Open random orders (buy or sell)
  • Follow: If previous order won, reverse direction; if lost, keep same direction
  • ZigZag: If previous order won, keep same direction; if lost, reverse direction

Close Options:

  • Don't close: Don't close orders at closing time
  • Close positive: Only close profitable orders
  • Close negative: Only close losing orders
  • Force close: Close all orders

3. Money Settings

Parameter Default Value Description
Snowball Ratio 0 Volume multiplier when previous order won. Example: 2 = double the volume. Set 0 to disable.
Martingale Ratio 0 Volume multiplier when previous order lost. Example: 2 = double the volume. Set 0 to disable.

⚠️ Warning: Martingale strategy can cause significant losses if encountering consecutive losing trades. Use with caution and combine with appropriate risk management.

4. PnL Settings

Parameter Default Value Description
Balance TP 0 Profit target as percentage of balance. When equity reaches this level, EA will close all orders. Set 0 to disable.
MDD (Max Drawdown) 0 Maximum loss as percentage of balance. When equity drops to this level, EA will close all orders. Set 0 to disable.

5. Volume Settings

Parameter Default Value Description
Volume 0.01 Base trading volume (lots)
Volume Limit 1 Maximum volume allowed when using Martingale/Snowball
Volume Reset True True: Reset to base Volume when reaching Volume Limit
False: Keep Volume Limit

6. SLTP Settings (Stop Loss / Take Profit)

Stop Loss 500 Stop Loss distance in points
Take Profit 500 Take Profit distance in points

💡 Note: For currency pairs with 5 decimal places (e.g., EURUSD = 1.08765), 500 points = 50 pips = 0.00500.

7. Trailing Stop Settings

Parameter Default Value Description
Trailing Stop 0 Trailing stop distance in points. Set 0 to disable.
Trailing Step 0 Step size for each stop loss movement in points.

Configuration Examples

Conservative Configuration

  • Signal: Buy only or Sell only
  • Volume: 0.01
  • Stop Loss: 300
  • Take Profit: 600
  • Martingale Ratio: 0
  • Snowball Ratio: 0
  • MDD: 10%

Aggressive Configuration

  • Signal: Follow or ZigZag
  • Volume: 0.05
  • Volume Limit: 0.5
  • Stop Loss: 500
  • Take Profit: 500
  • Martingale Ratio: 2
  • Volume Reset: True
  • MDD: 20%

Important Notes

  • Always backtest the EA on a demo account before using real money
  • Be cautious with Martingale strategy as it can cause significant losses
  • Set appropriate MDD to protect your account
  • EA only opens maximum 1 order at a time
  • Ensure VPS or computer runs continuously for EA to function
